The Results are in.... the Dr.'s letter arrived today!

WOW! I honestly don't know where to start.  I am in tears writing this.  I have tried so very hard over the years to lower my triglycerides & cholesterol.  I have lowered my overall cholesterol level from 244 to 182!  I have had SEVERE anxiety over my health due to my escalated cholesterol levels.  All kinds of questions would race through my mind every day!   How long has my cholesterol been this elevated? Am I predisposed to heart disease because of this?  What have I done to my body?

  I felt like a ticking time bomb!  
That is no way to live life!

Over a year ago I tried to cut out processed snack bars and foods.  I was taking red yeast rice and fish oil supplements.  I did NOT want to get on medication.  As you can see my cholesterol went down but it was still not within a healthy range.  This seriously was my last ditch effort to take control of my health.  I told myself if eating clean, working out 5-6 times a week and being healthy does not lower my triglycerides & cholesterol then I will have to take medication.  I give my Dr. a lot of credit for letting me work through this and try different things.  I want to get my blood work done again in 6 months and get those numbers even better!  I CAN and WILL do this!

This past March of 2014 I took control of my physical and mental health.  I started seeing a therapist for my anxiety and started working out doing Focus T-25 5 days a week.  In the last month I started another workout program called PiYo.  I started drinking Shakeology for my breakfast.  I can hands down say between clean eating, Shakeology and my workouts my life and anxiety levels have changed dramatically. For those of you who don't know about Shakeology I know these studies are real!

I urge you today to PLEASE get a routine blood screening done (if you have not already).  Take charge of your health both physically and mentally.  BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE EVERY DAY!  If you read my about me you already know I lost my Father when I was 8.  In reality life really is too short!  Make a change today, step up and take charge of your health!  Even if you do not have family health problems it is ALWAYS a good idea to have a basic blood panel done as a base line.  That is how I found out several years ago that I had high triglycerides and elevated cholesterol.  If I would have never done that I would have thought my diet and physical health was fine and who know what could have happened in a few years.

I am living proof that my daily exercise routine has been worth every blood sweat and tear that I have put into it.  That my Shakeology for breakfast has helped me eat clean and curb my cravings for junk food!  My weekly meal planning has created a fool proof meal for me every day! 

I am so thankful that God has allowed me to be brave enough to jump into coaching. I am very thankful for my fantastic husband who has supported me with my health and fitness journey! I get teary eyed from time to time knowing that I am moving mountains for clients and for myself.

My 3-Day Refresh Results

For two reasons... one I lost 3.8lbs and 2" in 3 days!  
My second reason is I can have my coffee again.  Giving up coffee for 3 days was the hardest part for me. I could have green tea so that helped me get through the morning.  

I had an INSANE 2 days with Jack, my 16 month old son.  So if I can get through a 3 day cleanse with Jack who was not napping or sleeping well at night... trust me ANYONE can do this!!

What is becoming a Beachbody Coach all about?

Are you a stay at home Mom and feel like you need something to keep your mind busy?  I know I did!  Going from working full time to being a stay at home Mom was hard for me.  I LOVE every minute with Jack but I missed the mental stimulation.  

Not going to work every day was actually causing me anxiety! Believe it or not!  Becoming a Beachbody coach has been the best thing for me.  I make my own hours and can show up to work in my PJ's or work out clothes.

So excited! My 3-Day refresh came today!!! I can admit it. I have been eating healthy but I do have my moments! I would like to do the 3-Day refresh to kick-start even better eating habits. The before and after picture is a fellow coach of mine Billie Jo Eckhart Cole! She rocked it big time.

For years I have always tried to eat healthy and cut calories.  I consumed a lot of these artificial sweeteners when I was doing Weight Watchers.  I would try to cut calories and still eat the sugary tasting foods that I enjoyed.  Little did I know that by consuming these sweeteners they were making my sweet tooth even worse!  I stopped doing Weight Watchers because I really wanted to focus on clean and healthy eating.  Not just counting calories and trying to eat fat free and low calorie foods.  

Cutting artificial sweeteners out of my life has been by FAR the BIGGEST struggle in my lifestyle change.  I was addicted.  I still think my body is detoxing from them. Dr. Oz says to limit to several packets a day but I say eliminate them all!  If you have to use them due to diabetes then limit them.  If you do not need to take them cut them out of your diet.  Eat healthy and clean!  

If I ABSOLUTELY need something sweetened I now use stevia.  
Stevia Rebaudiana is an herb in the Chyrsanthemum family which 
grows wild as a small shrub in parts of Paraguay and Brazil.  

Take control today and get these toxins out of your body!  
Check your food labels before you buy anything.

There is nothing like a fast beat for me to hit the pavement and go running!  One of my favorites is "I want to break free" by Queen.  I also love a lot of pop and club music!  I use my ipod and set up my 5k running mix.  I need some new suggestions though so please tell me your favorite songs and why!

I love my job

Thankful for all that I have 

Whew what a morning! our Verizon box got struck by lightening last night so we didn't have any tv, internet or phone. I know tragic right? Sad but true! It is amazing how life changing those 3 items are... oh and cell phones too!

I feel so blessed to have started a journey helping others with being healthy and staying fit.  I really stumbled upon this opportunity.  I started Focus T25 in a challenge group and loved the support and motivation I was getting form the team.  I thought I would love to stay in this environment!

For me staying motivated is one of the hardest things.  Some days when my son is tired and cranky I just want to throw in the towel.  This is my job now... so I have to be a good example and be held accountable.  So it keeps me pushing myself harder each and every day!  

I am very thankful to be able to work from home.  My husband travels a lot for work and I have my hands pretty full at times.  I cannot imagine trying to juggle a baby this morning, a Verizon tech, workout and a job I have to drive too! Thanks to my fabulous Mom and Mother in Law for allowing me to catch a break.

I always knew I wanted to be a stay at home mom (if I could financially).  Being at home is not the easiest job!  There are days I really need a break.  Being in baby land was really turning my brain to MUSH!  Coaching has allowed me to get my mind off those things and focus on work.  Which in return has drastically reduced my anxiety. Which i am so thankful for!  God is good! 

So to all you stay at home Mommies what do you do to keep your mind fresh?  Suggestions and ideas are welcome!  How do you not go completely insane at home?

One of my favorite meals!

I will be honest with you.  I cannot take full credit for these tasty little things.  I originally discovered them at Wegmans in the prepared food section.  They had fresh pre made portabella pizza's.  I thought oooh I will try that.  Knowing the hubby wouldn't be into them I decided to make them for Jack and I when he was traveling for work.  Well little did I know we hit a HOME run with them.  Jack was inhaling each bite!  He couldn't eat them fast enough.  There a quick meal to throw together for lunch or dinner.  These are one of my favorite meals.  It is easy to make, makes great leftovers and THEY ARE DELISH!  Enjoy!

Throwback Thursday - Back to March 2013

The picture on the left was taken when I was 38 weeks pregnant with lots of swelling thanks to preeclampsia. After my c-section I had around 35-40lbs of water on me. It was incredible really. People were worried about my health and how swollen I was but it was just part of having Mr. Jack!  All that water took a heavy toll on my body. Jack was born in March of 2013 and I had joint pain from all my swelling up until December 2013. I am not making excuses for still having the baby weight… but a 10lb 5oz babies can do some crazy damage to your body. I am 5’7” so thankfully I had some height in my favor but it was not enough! Haha. I will say I am very thankful I was induced at 38 weeks due to preeclampsia. Jack was showing no signs of wanting to enter the real world so my guess is he would have stayed until 42 weeks and been induced anyway. Can you imagine how large he would have been then? 11 or 12lbs? Yikes!

So a year went by… Jack turned 1 and I realized this is enough. I am tired of trying to find time to workout and trying to eat healthy. So several months ago I took a big step and started a big fitness journey. A good friend of mine told me about Focus T25 and how you can do a 25 minute workout at home. I thought… WOW I can do that! I decided I WILL NOT miss a workout. I WILL NOT give up, I WILL push play 5 days a week!

I made it to 8.5 weeks of Focus T25 without missing a workout. I had days I felt exhausted but I pushed play regardless. I was committed! Then it happened… I fell off the wagon… and it was a HARD fall. As most of you know my husband Greg travels a lot for work. He was away on business and Jack was a mess. Who knows why? I always blame it on the teeth (haha). It also could have been because he was getting sick. I was heartbroken I had pushed so hard through 8.5 weeks and now could not get myself to push play if my life depended on it! Promised myself I would workout the following day. Well the following day involved a plan ride to visit Greg up in Boston. To make a long story short… the plane ride was TERRIBLE. Jack was a mess and so was I. We were both sleep deprived and I felt like I was a failure. I had everything packed to workout and stay committed too! I had my computer, dvd’s, stretch bands, sneakers and workout clothes. The entire 6 days we were away I was so tired with a sick baby I couldn’t even think of touching any of it. Jack slept terrible in the strange hotels and he ended up getting a bad cold that turned into croup/stridor. That then turned into 2 dr visits and 1 ER visit. He is finally better Thank God! I swear it took me another week to fully recover from that.

I was so scared and upset that I fell off the wagon. As we all know it’s very hard to find time away from our busy schedules to workout and keep ourselves healthy. I felt like a complete failure and thought I wouldn’t get back on the wagon. But I did! I am BACK ON AND LOVING IT! I spoke to my challenge group and got so much support. It happens. We are humans. IT IS OKAY!!! Don’t forget being HEALTHY and FIT isn't a fad or a trend IT’S A LIFESTYLE. I am in my last week of my workouts and I am getting excited to post some transformation pictures. I am not physically where I want to be yet but I am headed in the right direction. My heart and soul is into getting physically fit and eating better. After having a baby it is amazing the new outlooks you have in life. I want to be a good role model for Jack with my physical activity and my eating habits
